INDEED GOD'S WORD IS MEDICINE FOR FINANCIAL FEAR

(Proverbs 4:20-22 ) My son, attend to my words. Incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes. Keep them in the midst of thine heart, for they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh.

Praise God!

Notice that God didn't say, my son, attend to your trouble. He didn't say, my son, attend to your bills. He didn't say, my son, attend to the shortage.
Attend to the threatening letter or attend to the bad report.
Neither did He say, attend to the voice of fear.
He said, attend to My Words.

Hallelujah!

And that word ‘attend’ means give attention to, give heed to, put your mind on it, listen closely, fix your eyes on it rather than merely noticing His Word briefly.
Give the Word first place.
Many want the promise of verse 22, but they don't want the instruction of verse 20.
They want the life and they want the health. And thank God it belongs to us but God told us how that life and health comes.

Attend to my words. Incline thine ear unto my sayings.
That means there is a voice you are supposed to lean toward.
Truly, we have used that scripture many times concerning healing for the body, and rightly so, because God says His words are life and health to all their flesh but we should also be aware that If the word of God is medicine to the body, it is medicine to the troubled heart, fearful soul, and financially pressured mind too.

The margin of some Bibles bring out the thought that God’s word is medicine.

God's words are medicine.
If it will work on pain in the body, it will work on fear in the soul.
If it will work where sickness is talked loud, it will work where lack is talked loud.
If it will work where disease has tried to dominate, it will work where financial fear has tried to dominate. Hallelujah!

Do you know that fear talks. Fear has a voice.
Don't ever think fear is silent. It will talk to you in the night time. It will talk to you while you're driving down the road. It will talk to you when you look at your bank account. It will talk to you when prices go up, when  business slows down, when the creditor calls, when somebody says, “I don't know how you're going to make it”, fear talks.

But thank God, fear is not the only thing talking!
Praise God!
God's word talks too!
And the first step out of financial fear is to decide whose voice is going to have your attention.
God’s Word is louder than fear.
We must choose to prioritize God's word over fear, affirming that it is more powerful and reliable than financial worries. Acknowledging that fear may knock on the door but choosing not to welcome it is crucial, as financial fear is merely a symptom to be addressed with God's Word, rather than allowing it to dominate one's thoughts and actions.
It is something trying to get your attention.
And you treat it the way you would treat any symptom that contradicts the word of God.
You take the medicine.
You keep taking the medicine.
You attend to His Word until His word rises up on the inside of you.

A Bible on a table, a marked verse, or a Scripture displayed on a wall does not itself constitute taking the Word; the message must enter through the eyes, ears, mouth, and heart.
One brief reading cannot counterbalance hours of listening to fear, rehearsing shortages, or imagining failure. So, keep attending, speaking, praying, and acting on the Word even when its effect is not immediately felt.
Continue when symptoms return. If fear reappears later in the day, the instruction is not to abandon the “prescription”. Continuous engagement with scripture serves as spiritual medicine, reinforcing faith and driving out fear throughout daily life.
We must intentionally engage with Scripture, allowing faith to grow while countering fear with God's promises and affirmations.
The governing prescription is: attend, incline the ear, keep the Word before the eyes, keep it in the heart, speak it, pray with thanksgiving, and act in obedience.

By consistently focusing on God's provision and care, believers can replace fear with peace and strength, leading to a more stable and faith-filled mindset.
Bills very much exist yes, but a financial statement / bill does not have the right to control your whole day or define the believer’s source. Some people let a bill become their pastor.
It tells them when to rejoice.
It tells them when to sleep.
It tells them when to be kind.
It tells them when to lose their temper.
It tells them whether God is faithful or not.
Friend, that is the wrong preacher.
Praise God!
Proverbs 4:20–22, Matthew 6:25–33, Philippians 4:6–7, Philippians 4:19, Psalm 23, and 2 Corinthians 9:8.
God’s Word like medicine carries strength to the body when you take it properly, but you have to attend to them.
You can't just glance at them once and then stare at fear for 10 hours and wonder why your heart is troubled.
You can't incline your ear to every tale of disaster, every conversation of defeat, every imagination of lack, every threatening voice and then give God five seconds and say, well, I tried.
You took fear in large doses and the word in little drops.
Turn that around.

Give the word first place.
Give the word time.
Give the word your ear.
Give the word your mouth.
Keep it before your eyes.
Keep it in the midst of your heart.
Hallelujah!

When financial fear starts talking, don't answer it with silence, answer it with the Word.
When it says you're going under, you say, no, I'm going over because greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. Hallelujah!
When it says, you won't have enough, you say, the Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
When it says, nobody is helping you, you say, the Father knows what things I have need of before I ask him.
When it says, this pressure will break you, you say, God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
And don't wait until fear has built a whole house in your mind before you open your Bible. Start early, attend early, incline early.
The moment fear begins to talk, put the word in your mouth.
The moment worry begins to pull on your heart, turn your ear toward God's sayings.
His promise has to become louder than the pressure.

Faith comes where the Word is heard.
Peace comes where the Word is believed.
Strength comes where the Word is kept in the midst of the heart.

Remember, the ear is a gateway to the heart because repeated listening shapes thought and builds an inner orientation.
The same principle is applied negatively: fear is strengthened by repeatedly hearing reports of debt, recession, shortage, failure, and impossibility, as well as by hearing one’s own mouth rehearse defeat.
Worry feeds on wrong thoughts, wrong words, repeated attention to problems, imagined failure, and listening to every voice except God’s.
Faith feeds on God’s promises of provision, God’s goodness and faithfulness, covenant words, peace, and confidence in God’s care.
If worry is fed daily while faith is fed only occasionally, worry will appear stronger in a person’s thinking because it has received more repeated attention.

So, what do we do?
Hear the Word in the morning.
Hear it before financial decisions.
Hear it when circumstances look favorable and when they look threatening.
Hear it before sleep so that fear’s “midnight sermon” is not the final influence of the day.
Repeat it because faith comes by present, continuing hearing rather than by relying only on past hearing.

Financial fear may start talking, but it doesn't get the last word. The bill doesn't get the last word. The shortage doesn't get the last word. The threat doesn't get the last word.
God's word gets the last word in my heart, in my mouth, in my house, and in my Finances.

Praise God!

Keep attending, keep inclining, keep looking, keep saying.
His words are life to those that find them, and health, medicine, strength and soundness to all their flesh.
And you know something else, they are peace to the troubled heart and faith to the man or woman who will receive them.
Hallelujah!

That means when fear tries to parade its pictures before your mind, you put another picture in front of your eyes.
You put God's promise there.
You put his covenant there.
You put his faithfulness there.
Praise God, for they are life unto those that find them and health to all their flesh.

Faith Acts Wisely Rather Than Panic-Driven
Faith feeds on the word.
Faith feeds on My God shall supply all your need.
Faith feeds on The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
Faith feeds on Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness  and all these things shall be added unto you.
Faith feeds on Give, and it shall be given unto you.
Faith feeds on the goodness of God.
Faith feeds on the faithfulness of God.
Faith feeds on covenant words, Words of life, words of health, words of provision, words of peace.
Faith brings steadiness to your thinking.
And that is important because financial fear will try to make you unstable in your decisions.
Fear will try to make you rush when you ought to wait.
Fear will try to make you quit when you ought to stand.
Fear will try to make you hold back when God is dealing with you to obey.
Fear will try to make you speak against your inheritance in Christ.
But the Word taken continually will steady you.
It will hold you.
It will anchor your thoughts.
The Word will make you more sound, not less sound.
The Word will help you make decisions out of faith instead of panic.
The Word will help you pay what you can pay ( not over indulging).
Call who you need to call, Work where you need to work, give where God tells you to give, and stand where you need to stand.

God's words are health.
God's words are provision.
God's words are peace.
So don't be passive with fear. Don't sit there and let fear medicate you with unbelief.
Take God's medicine.
Take it in the morning, Take it at noon. Take it when the thought comes. Take it when the pressure rises.
Take it when you feel steady and take it when you feel shaky.
Keep taking it.
What you keep listening to will begin to shape how you think.
What you keep inclining your ear toward will begin to build something in your heart.
If it is the Word, it will build faith.
If it is lack, then lack all day long, and don't be surprised when lack begins to look bigger than God's promise in your thinking.
Remember, fear comes by hearing, too.
Now, the Bible says faith comes by hearing the word of God but I'm telling you that fear comes by hearing the wrong word also.

Fear comes by hearing the report of lack over and over.
Fear comes by hearing recession, debt, impossibility, shortage, failure, pressure.
Fear comes by hearing somebody say, nobody can make it now.
Fear comes by hearing, you'll never get out of this.
Fear comes by hearing your own mouth rehearse defeat.
And if you sit there and listen to that from morning till night, it will affect you.
It will get on your mind like ants on sweet.
But thank God, you can choose what you hear.
You can choose what you give your ear to.
You can choose what you let go down into the midst of your heart.
You may not be able to stop every report from coming, but you can decide whether that report gets a place in your mind.
After you have heard what needs to be heard in the natural.
Then you turn right around and hear what God said.
Start your day with the Word. Let the Word have the first voice of the day.
Then before you make decisions, speak the Word. Don't make decisions under the influence of fear.
And as you keep your ear inclined to his sayings, financial faith will be strengthened in your heart.
Fear will lose its place, anxiety will lose its voice, and the word of God will rise up in you strong.
We know that fear is not from my Father.
Torment is not from my Father.
The Father is not the author of panic. He is not the author of dread.

Jesus said in John 10:10, the thief cometh not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy.
Don't get the thief and the shepherd mixed up.
The thief steals, the thief kills, the thief destroys.
But Jesus said, I am come. That they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.
You need to get that settled.

Praise God forevermore!

Now, financial fear steals. It steals sleep, it steals joy.
It steals clear thinking. It steals kindness out of a home if you let it.
It kills expectation, it kills boldness, it kills generosity, it destroys peace.
Who does that sound like to you?
Jesus said the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy but he came that we might have life.
He said life more abundantly.
And life more abundantly includes peace in your heart while you believe God, wisdom in your mind while you obey God and provision according to the Father's faithfulness.

Hallelujah!
