/JESUS SAT DOWN!/ JESUS SAT DOWN!

JESUS SAT DOWN!

Have you ever wondered in Hebrews chapter number 10 verse 11 and 12, the Bible said that  Jesus sat down! That's awesome!

Jesus sat down!!

This is a great revelation that is worth looking into and that is why we're here to unravel the truth behind that statement "Jesus sat down".

Hebrews chapter number nine from verse number one to five indicates there are many furniture items that were mentioned in the Old Testament tabernacle. Under the dispensation of the law a lot of furniture items were mentioned for instance you had the Ark of the covenant, the lamp, the golden candle stand and a host of others. That was how it was back then in the tabernacle of Moses. All of these furniture items mentioned under the Old Testament tabernacle are all a picture of Jesus Christ and his redemptive work. They are all figurative of Jesus. They are all figures of Jesus Christ and his redemptive work for humanity.

So when the Bible says that Jesus sat down, what does that mean to us today in this church age? What does it mean to us today in this grace age? Under that old covenant system, whenever the priests (including the high priest) were carrying out their ministerial service or services before the altar they always stood day in day out, year in year out. They always stood there right from the outer court of the tabernacle down into the inner court and then into the innermost court which is also known as the holy of holies. The tabernacle had three areas. You had the outer court, the inner court and the the holiest place that's the holy of holies, and the bible makes it very clear to us that only the high priest could enter into the holiest place, the holy of holies and that he did this once in a year. Just once in a year on the day of atonement.

During that day, the high priest would enter into the holy of holies with the blood of bulls; the blood of animals and he would get into the holy of holies. Him alone, no one else entered into that place with him and then he would make atonement on behalf of the people of Israel before God and based on that atonement there are sins will be covered up until the next year. So this particular exercise continued year after year after year after year for thousands of years.

No priests could sit down while carrying out their ministerial service in the tabernacle. They couldn't sit down. And when you look at all the items in the tabernacle of the Old Testament, something strikes your attention. You would realize that there was one missing item in that tabernacle and it was that there was no chair in the Old Testament tabernacle. There was no chair! The priests never sat down! They were not permitted to sit down. They always stood offering the same sacrifices again and again and again and again which is what the Bible tells us and these sacrifices could never take away sin. The Bible makes it very clear to us that those sacrifices could never take away sin. It could only cover their sins for a period of time after which the whole thing was revisited and then the sacrifices were carried out again and performed again and again and again. So you see they were under that bondage of animal sacrificing, under the bondage of sin consciousness, under the bondage of the law, under the bondage of condemnation, the bondage of death!! That was how it was back then under the Old Testament. The priests could never sit down, there was no chair in the tabernacle, their work was never ended. That was what that meant. A man can only sit down when he has finished his work but there was no chair for them so they couldn't sit down; their work was never ended. Their work was never finished. Hebrews 10 verse 11 says,... every priest standeth daily ministering and offering often times the same sacrifices which can never take away sins, offering oftentimes again and again and again repeatedly the same sacrifices.....

They were in this cycle of repetition doing the same thing again and again and again just like a lot of people today that we find in a lot of church groups. They keep begging God for forgiveness of sins, they keep saying the same prayers again and again and again. Confessing the same sins again and again and again! That's ridiculous! That's the sort of thing that religion makes people do. It makes them do crazy things, obnoxious things. It makes them do things that are unscriptural. It makes them do things that are not in line with the dispensation of grace in which we are in. They do things that are not in line with the revelation of Jesus Christ for us today. Praise God! It makes them go back in time.

They live in the new covenant with Old Testament mentality. Can you imagine that? Living in the new covenant age with old covenant mentality. But that's what we find here and there. That's what we find in most of our church groups. That's exactly what they're doing. They're just operating  exactly like those Old Testament priests. Repeating the same prayers. Repeating the same sacrifices for sins again and again and again begging God for the same thing that God has already dealt with in Christ Jesus. Praise the Lord! People have got to be free from this. They've got to be free from it because that's bondage. That's not Christianity. That's not Bible truth. That's not it. That's not grace. That's law. That's law mentality. That's law craziness. That's retrogression. That's going back in time. Whereas God has taken us ahead of time.

We live under the grace age, we live in the age of light where there should be no darkness at all. The Bible says in first john that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all.

The Bible didn't stop there. Let's go over to verse 12 of Hebrews 10, .....but this man (referring to Jesus) after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down on the right hand of God..... Jesus dealt with the sin problem once and for all for everyone forever and ever and ever! The sacrifice of Jesus dealt with the sin problem once and for all. He dealt with the sin of the past, he dealt with the sin of the present and he dealt with the sin of the future.

Sin has been forever dealt with. Past, Present and Future when Jesus died on the cross. To understand this truth, you would agree with me that you and I were not born then. We were still in the future so that meant that the sacrifice of Jesus paid for the sins of the future as well as the sins of the present. He also dealt with the sin problem of the past right from the fall of Adam. The sacrifice of Jesus has paid for sin for all time, even for the sins of your unborn children! Jesus has paid for them all! Hallelujah!!

Paul said in Hebrews chapter 9 verse 26, that Jesus by his one sacrifice put away sin, he put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. He put it away. The sin problem has been dealt with forever, God has dealt with the sin problem forever and when God deals with anything; God deals with it once and for all. God has concluded it, he has completed it and he has put it away. He has put it aside. All that God is looking up to now is for people to acknowledge what Jesus has already done for them in His redemptive work. That's all that God is looking up to. He is looking up to people receiving Jesus Christ and the moment any person receives Jesus as lord and savior, something miraculous takes place in them. Their spirits get recreated, reborn. Not repaired, not renewed, not transformed, but completely recreated becoming what the Bible calls "the new creation" the kahinos kahisis. And the Bible said all of this is from God.

So he said this man Jesus Christ, after he had offered one sacrifice; just one one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right side of God! He sat down!! Now that's what I'm talking about! Jesus sat down having dealt with the sin problem, having solved the sin equation that nobody could solve. The same equation that no man, no angel, no ruler, no principality, no power, no created being ever could ever have solved it! The Bible said Jesus solved the same equation for all eternity!

That equation is never again going to be visited, it's gone! This is the gospel truth, this is what the Bible teaches and there is no other truth asides this that your sins have been dealt with forever.

God is no longer looking at your sins because they are no more! As a matter of truth, he no longer keeps record of your wrongs because of Jesus Christ! This is amazing Grace! This is beyond religion, beyond words, beyond what the human mind can carry, beyond academics.

That your sins have been dealt with forever by the Almighty God through Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! This is amazing grace. And this is the truth that I'm bringing to you today. So, now, let's look. What does this mean that Jesus sat down? First of all, it means that Jesus completed the work. In other words there is no more work for you to do. God isn't expecting you to try your best, there is no best to try. God does not need your best, God has his own best and his best is Jesus Christ and all that you can do now is to just put your trust in Jesus Christ.

So Jesus completed the work. No more work for you to do. God is not expecting you to try to please him. Because the truth is you cannot. You cannot please God by your own human efforts. You can't please God by your religious efforts, no matter how much you try. It isn't going to work. It's not going to work. God is no longer counting on those things. They are gone. The Bible calls them dead works.

They are all dead works. All of your human efforts in trying to gain God's approbation, all of your religiosity in trying to please God, in trying to appease God for your wrongs, all of those things are based on ignorance. They are all based on ignorance.

Jesus sat down. The work has been completed. Then also, we've got to realize that when the Bible says Jesus sat down, it also means that the sin problem has been put away. God is no longer looking at people's wrongs. God is no longer recording people's sins. Praise the Lord Jesus! He's no longer recording people's sins.

That doesn't mean God is pleased with the bad things that people do. No, that's not what it means. What it simply means is that Jesus has already paid for all those things, all those wrong things, all those nasty things that people do. Jesus has already paid the price there is no more price to be paid, no more price. Everything has been done. Everything has been completed and all that God like I said is expecting now is for people to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and the moment they receive Christ, the love of God gets expression in their spirit.

There is no other truth and any other thing other than this is just mere religious gibberish. Jesus sat down because he has completed the work, he sat down because he finished the work for you and I. He sat down because you and I can now enter His rest and of course if you are born again you have already entered this rest in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians chapter 2 verse 6 he said we are seated together with Jesus Christ in the heavenly places far above principalities and powers.... So we are seated together with Him in the place of power, the place of authority. Principalities and powers having become our footstool. In the book of Ephesians Paul makes us realize that Jesus Christ and the church make up one man. Jesus is the head, the church is the body. A complete person comprises of the head and the body. So Jesus is the head and the church is the body of Christ so we are one man and we are seated together with Jesus in the realms of power where he sits. That is where we are seated. Hallelujah! That Jesus sat down also means that Satan has forever been conquered. Satan with all demons have been defeated. Today, we hear out there groups still trying to defeat Satan. They are still fighting the devil, trying to conquer him, to defeat him. All of those prayer points or prayer topics are not based on redemption truth.

They are all based on crass ignorance. Absolute and total ignorance of what Jesus has accomplished for us in his finished work. Praise the Lord Jesus! Jesus sat down. Can you say it with me where you are? Say it after me. Jesus sat down that I might sit with Him! I am seated together with Jesus Christ in the heavenly places far above principalities and powers!

What does it mean also that Jesus sat down? It also means that God has forgiven all your sins. Stop crying and begging Him for forgiveness, God has already forgiven you. If you were not forgiven Jesus couldn't have sat down, he couldn't. But for the fact that the Bible reveals to us that he sat down it means he has already forgiven us and you know forgiveness of sins is one of the things that Jesus died for us to obtain.
He died to get it for us, to obtain the Father's forgiveness for us. And today, we are already forgiven. And the Bible says in Ephesians chapter 1 verse 7, In whom we have redemption through his blood. This is the forgiveness of our sins. Praise the Lord Jesus!
